House wines & AWF-CLUB

The "Chasa Montana" wines

The idea for the 3 house wines was born in the AWF Club (Alpine Wine Freaks). The AWF Club was founded in 2007 by the Chasa Montana sommeliers together with our wine provider and a winegrower from South Tyrol. The aim of the club is to exchange wine knowledge amongst each other during exclusive blind tastings, which mostly take place in high-alpine mountain huts. Meanwhile, the club has 16 members including sommeliers, winegrowers, wine academics and other wine enthusiasts. The idea for the Chasa Montana White & Chasa Montana Red was born during one of these blind tastings, and quickly realised after. The Chasa Montana Pink Sparkling Brut was developed at a later stage. Our aim was to create wines, which pleasure both, ordinary wine drinkers and wine connoisseurs.

The Chasa Montana White

A dry late harvest of the Green Veltliner vine deriving from Erich Machherndl from Wachau in Austria. Up to now it was produced in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016. A vertical in the spring of 2018 showed that all years until the year 2010 are still perfect to drink.

The Chasa Montana Pink Sparkling Brut 2012

A sparkling rosé wine from producer Erich Machherndl. It is characterised by an intensive spice and therefore requires no dosage.

The Chasa Montana Red

Meanwhile produced in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013, this is an exciting cuvee from the south of Tuscany. It is produced on the Valdifalco Winery, owned by the Loacker Family from South Tyrol. While the first vintages consisted of 5 vines (Cabernet, Sangiovese, Syrah, Merlot & Primitivo), from 2011 the cuvee is made from Sangiovese & Syrah only.

All 3 wines are also offered in glass measures at the Chasa Montana, the White & Red now also in Magnum bottles.
